Welcome to the Captain Henry C. Semple Camp...
Welcome to the Captain Henry C. Semple Camp #2002 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans We are one of three SCV Camps in Historic Montgomery, Alabama, birthplace of the Confederacy. We are proud of our city's history.
There is a lot to see in Historic Montgomery. The First White House of the Confederacy where President Jefferson Davis and his family lived during the Spring of 1861 is located on the corner of Union Street & Washington Avenue, right across from the Alabama State Capitol building downtown. You can even stand on the exact spot where Jefferson Davis took the oath of Office. There is a 6-sided star located on the top step of the Capitol building to mark the exact spot.
The State Archives building is next door to the First White House and they have several flags from Alabama Civil War units there. Many are on display. You can even look up your Confederate Ancestor there.
Enjoy your stay in beautiful Montgomery.
